Task Description:
We are looking for enthusiastic and energetic individuals to join our research efforts, focusing on the analysis of animals' genetic variation, specifically in the context of its influence on aspects of the gene expression profile, metabolome and complex phenotypes. We are principally interested in understanding how genetics contributes to complex traits, including disease, behavior and production traits.
Our projects include (1) transcriptional network and pathway analysis;
(2) comparative and evolutionary genomics; (3) data integration, data management and extensive data mining; 4) detection of genes and networks related to animal health, animal wefare and resource efficiency by using genome-wide association studies (GWAS and eQTL).
The qualified candidate should be highly motivated, with experience in genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field, with experience in statistics (e.g., experience with GWAS, eQTL, or CNVs) and skills in one programming language (R or Matlab, Perl, Java, or C/C++).
He or she should have experience analyzing high-throughput genomic datasets. A good understanding of genetics is required. Because our work involves multiple collaborators, a good balance between independence and team spirit is essential, and effective communication skills are necessary.
